Katharine Lee McEwan is an award-winning British actress, writer, producer and voice-over artist residing in Los Angeles and New York. Katharine wrote, produced and starred in the feature-length British drama Solitary, which was released by Electric Entertainment in November 2016. During its festival run Solitary received sixteen awards and was the opening night film of both the Chelsea Film Festival in New York and the London Independent Film Festival, where it won Best UK Feature. Described as “Spare, nuanced and painfully real” by award-winning journalist Karen Ocamb, Solitary explores themes of addiction, family dysfunction and the culture of silence surrounding childhood abuse. Katharine soon followed up with Swim, a short film she produced and acted in, that follows Nicky, a young trans girl who finds freedom in a secret midnight swim. Swim won the audience award for Best Narrative Short at the 2017 Los Angeles Film Festival and has played at over twenty film festivals worldwide.

Katharine was born in Redcar, Cleveland and spent her early years being home-schooled by her parents and acting in local productions. Deciding to forgo university and seek overseas adventure instead, Katharine traveled through Europe, Asia, South Africa and Australia. It was on these journeys, inspired by the stories of the many unique people she encountered, that she decided to return to her love of acting. Arriving in Los Angeles with a renewed passion and an even greater desire to study her craft, she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Upon graduating, Katharine started working in theatre and independent film, but soon realized that creating her own material would give her the opportunity to play the dynamic, fiery women she most identified with.

In line with her mission to create “quality, hard-hitting, and issue-driven content,” Katharine is currently producing and starring in IRT: Traffick - a web series about a trio of Interpol agents tasked with solving the world’s most controversial crimes. In addition to her on-camera work, Katharine is also an award-winning narrator, having lent her voice to numerous titles spanning genres such as fiction, fantasy, and drama, and including works by New York Times best-selling authors Maeve Binchy and Paula McLain. Katharine is a proud member of The Road Theatre Company in Los Angeles.
